Magic wand and the Enigma of the Sphinx

چکیده
This paper presents an evaluation of the benefits and user acceptance of a multimodal interface in which the user interacts with a game-like interactive virtual reality application ‘‘The Enigma of the Sphinx’’. The interface consists of a large projection screen as the main display, a ‘‘magic wand’’, a stereo sound system and the user’s voice for ‘‘casting spells’’. We present our conclusions concerning ‘‘friendliness’’ and sense of presence, based on observations of more than 150 users in a public event. r 2004 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

متن کاملAdvanced Radio Channel Model for Magic WAND
The stochastic radio channel model (SRCM) derived within the Magic WAND project takes into account all propagation effects which have an impact on the system performance. Special attention has been paid to obtain an accurate description of the time and direction dispersive character of real radio channels because the Magic WAND system exploits both, frequency and space diversity. In this paper,...
متن کاملProof Pearl: Magic Wand as Frame
Separation logic is widely used to verify programs that manipulate pointers. It adds two connectives: separating conjunction ∗ (“star”) and its adjoint, separating implication −∗ (“magic wand”). Comparatively, separating conjunction is much more widely used. Many separation logic tools do not even support separating implication. Especially in interactive program verification or pen-paper proofs...
متن کاملLightweight Support for Magic Wands in an Automatic Verifier
Permission-based verification logics such as separation logic have led to the development of many practical verification tools over the last decade. Verifiers employ the separating conjunction A ∗ B to elegantly handle aliasing problems, framing, race conditions, etc. Introduced along with the separating conjunction, the magic wand connective, written A −∗ B, can describe hypothetical modificat...
متن کاملOn the Almighty Wand
We investigate decidability, complexity and expressive power issues for (first-order) separation logic with one record field (herein called SL) and its fragments. SL can specify properties about the memory heap of programs with singly-linked lists. Separation logic with two record fields is known to be undecidable by reduction of finite satisfiability for classical predicate logic with one bina...
